How do I import a citation source from other referencing tools such as Google Books into MindView?

Unlock Your Research Power: Importing Citations into MindView

Getting all your great research into MindView is smooth and easy!

MindView already connects directly with powerful tools like WorldCat, Mendeley, and Zotero. But you can also bring in sources from other major players, such as Google Scholar and Google Books, using a simple, universal file format.

The key is the RIS file format (a common way for research tools to share source details). You'll download your source as an RIS file and simply import it. It's fast, and it works every time!

Here is the quick, step-by-step path for Google Books:

  1. Find Your Source: Head over to Google Books and search for the reference you need to cite.

  2. Open the Preview: Click the "Preview" button for your chosen book.

  3. Get the Citation: Inside the preview, select the "Create citation" option.

  4. Download the File: In the citation pop-up that appears, choose "RefMan." This immediately creates and downloads your source as that essential RIS file.

    • That's the entire process for Google Books! You now have the perfect file to transfer.

  5. Bring It into MindView: Open MindView, go to "Manage Sources," select the "Import/Export" tab, and click "Import."

  6. Success! The source you just downloaded will now appear in your list, ready to be cited in your work.
