The Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading assess whether or not students can benefit from a reading accommodation.
If a student is assessed using uPAR and the reports show that the student displays a noticeable improvement with either a text reader or by hearing an adult read to them, then an educator can take this information and make an informed decision on how to best accommodate the student.
The app was not designed to be a screening tool to see what grade level students read at. Therefore, it blocks the educator from setting up students who are already reading above their grade level.
