As part of a security update Read&Write For Windows (12.0.74 and above) will now require the .NET Framework 4.8 to be installed in order to run.
Why is this needed
Read&Write is following the recommendations of Microsoft to upgrade applications to the .NET Framework 4.8 to receive the highest level of performance, reliability, and security
How to check
The Read&Write For Windows installer includes the .NET 4.8 framework so this will be installed if required during installation of Read&Write.
If the Read&Write for Windows updates are managed by your admin team, you will need to check if the .NET Framework 4.8 is already installed in order for Read&Write to run.
You can check the version of the .NET framework installed by following this guide
Note:
- If you are using Windows 10 version 1903 or above, the .NET 4.8 framework will already be installed
- If you are using Windows 11, the .NET 4.8 framework will already be installed
- If you are using Windows Server 1909 or above, the .NET 4.8 framework will already be installed
What to do
If the .NET Framework 4.8 is already installed, you don’t have to do anything further.
Otherwise, download and install the .NET Framework 4.8
For older versions of Windows, the .NET Framework 4.8 is also available on Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Microsoft Update (MU) Catalog.
