  • How do I create a take home version of read&write?
  • From our essentials site, you download and install the “Take Home tool”. With that “Take Home tool” you can create the take home version that you will distribute to your students.
  • What type of file are we creating?
  • You are actually creating a zip folder called “setup.zip”.
  • Is the setup.zip the actual program?
  • The zip is a compressed folder that holds the executable file which will install the program on the student's computer.
  • How can I distribute the “setup.zip” file to students?
  • You can host the “setup.zip” file on your LMS or on a secure server
  • How do the students install the Take Home?
  • Here are end user instructions for installing the Take Home.
  • Will texthelp host the folder for us?
  • No, the folder must be hosted on your servers or LMS.
  • How long does it take to create a Take Home?
  • Only a few minutes depending on your internet speed.
  • Do I need to create a Take Home for every student?
  • No you do not. You can distribute the same setup.zip folder to every student.
  • How large is the setup.zip folder?
  • 60KB
  • Will it take up a lot of space on our servers/LMS?
  • 60KB is very small and will not take up a lot of space.
  • What happens when the student graduates or leaves our school?
  • You have the option to create an access code from the “Take Home tool”. When you change the access code, the end users will be prompted to enter the new access code. You may give the new access code to current students and non-students will not be able to access the program (they will have 25 sessions before they lose all access).
  • Will this affect the amount activations?
  • No this will have no bearing on your activations.
  • Does texthelp collect any data from the student's computer?
  • We do not collect or see any data from the student’s computer. The only interaction will be their computers promoting our servers to make sure they are licensed users.
