  1. Close any programs that are open on your computer
  2. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features

Programs and features

  1. Find Microsoft Office in the list of installed programs and click on Change

change button in Programs and features

  1. Choose the Repair option, and click Continue

Office Repair Window

  1. Once your repair of Microsoft Office has completed, open Read&Write and use it to read your document.

For Network Admins

Read&Write needs a specific number of registry keys to be present so it can connect to Word. They are listed below:

Office XP (Typelib value is 8.2)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{00020910-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} to {00020A02-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Office 2003 (Typelib value is 8.3)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{00020910-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} to {00020A02-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Office 2007 (Typelib value is 8.4)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{00020910-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} to {00020A02-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Office 2010 (Typelib value is 8.5)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{00020910-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} to {00020A02-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

This needs to be done if a Microsoft Office Update has removed or changed these registry entries or as a result of the initial Office installation.
