How do I open a PDF with the Texthelp PDF Reader


There are three ways to open PDFs with the Texthelp PDF Reader:

  • Use Open with in Google Drive
  • Open PDFs from web pages
  • Open from your hard drive

 

Open With Texthelp PDF Reader

To open a PDF from Google Drive, right-click on a PDF and choose Open with and choose Read&Write for Google Chrome™

Set Texthelp PDF Reader to open PDFs by default

To set the Texthelp PDF Reader as the default app to open files in Google Drive check the following:

  1.  Click the Settings gear in Google Drive under your profile image
  2. Go to Settings

  1. Under Manage Apps, scroll down to Texthelp PDF Reader and tick Use by default

Open PDFs from web pages

To open a PDF from the web, just click the link to the PDF and it will automatically open in the Texthelp PDF Reader.

(Note: The Texthelp PDF Reader must be set to be used by default as shown in the above step: Set Texthelp PDF Reader to open PDFs by default)

  

Open PDFs from Files

You can also open a PDF from a local drive (i.e. on your Desktop, File Explorer or Finder) by right-clicking on the PDF and choosing Open with > Google Chrome

You can also drag a PDF from File Explorer or Finder onto a new tab in Chrome. Note that for this to work, you need to go your Extensions page (type chrome://extensions in the address bar in Chrome), find Texthelp PDF Reader and check the box that says Allow access to file URLs.

PDFs will then open with the Texthelp PDF Reader toolbar
