Getting Started

Welcome to the Texthelp PDF Reader. Use this new extension to read PDF files in Google Drive, the web, or your local hard drive.

After installing the extension, get started in Google Drive by simply right clicking a PDF file and choosing Open with followed by Read&Write for Google Chrome™.

You will first be asked to choose an account to associate with the Texthelp PDF Reader

Then you’ll be presented with a permissions dialogue the first time you use the Texthelp PDF Reader.

Sign in - Google Accounts Allow Access

Click Allow to grant access

You can also make Read&Write your default PDF viewer by going to Google Drive settings and choosing Manage apps, then check Use by Default (for more information please read Setting PDF Reader as Default)

Read&Write for Google Chrome Use by Default

Opening PDF files with the Texthelp PDF Reader allows you to use Texthelp’s Read&Write toolbar to

  • Read text aloud
  • Look up words in the Dictionary and Picture Dictionary
  • Translate words
  • Add text annotations using Word Prediction
  • Highlight text
  • Build vocabulary lists
  • And more!

There are also powerful collaboration tools to take your PDF experience to the next level.  

  • Collaborate in real time on PDFs shared in Google Drive
  • Add and reply to text comments (just like in Google Docs!)
  • Add images and links
  • Leave audio comments using only your voice
